Ruth Earlene Powell Hughes

Ruth Earlene Powell Hughes, 75, of Fulton, entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, October 14, 2012. She was born December 6, 1936, in Callaway County, the daughter of Milton Earl Powell and Ruby (Neff) Pasley. She was united in marriage to John Edward Hughes on March 30, 1996 in High Ridge, Mo. Ruth was a member of Richland Baptist Church. Blessed with a gift for caring for others, she worked in nursing for many years, serving at area nursing homes and hospitals. She was a talented seamstress and made many of the clothes her children and grandchildren wore. She loved to travel, read, and listen to gospel music. What Ruth enjoyed more than anything, was simply time spent with her loved ones. Ever present and involved in the lives of her family, Ruth's memory will be cherished by her children, Marsha (Tim) Healy of Fulton, Shellea Young of Fulton, Penny (Tony) Rynearson of Columbia, Carrie Womack of St. Louis, John (Charlotte) Hockemeyer of New Bloomfield, Dianna (Don) Williams of Arlington, Texas, Rodney (Kathy) Hickman of Montana, and Hogan (Brenda) Hickman of Texas; sisters, Norma Hosenfelt and Helen Hosenfelt; 16 very special grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brothers, Gene Pasley and Bobby Powell; and sister Shirley Klott. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Brother Larry Paris officiating. Interment will follow at Steedman Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16 at the funeral home.
