Elizabeth Slater Durlin, affectionately known by family and friends as "Beth" or "Betty", 47, of Auxvasse, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at University Hospital in Columbia. Betty was born on June 13, 1965, in Mexico, a daughter of Stanley W. and Lola Frances (Pulis) Slater, of Auxvasse. She graduated from R-1 North Callaway High School. She worked for the Fulton State Hospital for 11 years and was a member of the Grand Prairie Baptist Church in Auxvasse. She is survived by: her mother, Lola Frances Pulis Slater of Mexico; one son, Austin T. Clark of Auxvasse; two sisters, Shirley Owen and husband Robert of Mexico, and Mona Leonard of Mexico; her fiancÈ Todd Durlin of Auxvasse; and one grandson, Elijah Clark. She was preceded in death by: her father, Stanley W. Slater; her grandparents and brother-in-law, Gary Leonard. A memorial service will be Monday, June 4, 2012, at 4 p.m., at Grand Prairie Baptist Church in Auxvasse with the Rev. Ben Taylor officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grand Prairie Baptist Church. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
