Oscar Lee Maddox

Oscar Lee Maddox, 76, of Fulton, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Boone Hospital in Columbia. He was born March 1, 1936, in Steedman, the son of Finis and Alva (Scott) Maddox. He was united in marriage to Betty Jane Hughes on May 1, 1985 in Fulton. She survives at their home. Oscar served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 until 1957. He was employed at Fulton State Hospital as a security guard at the Biggs building for 35 years. He enjoyed being around his horses and cows and was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed sports and westerns. He was a member of Fulton Bible Baptist Church. Along with his wife, Oscar is survived by five sons, Oscar L. Maddox Jr. (Sprout) and wife Kerie of Alabama, Jack Maddox and wife Hanna, John Maddox, Marvin Giboney and wife Mary Lou, and Harold Giboney and wife Brenda, all of Fulton; two daughters, Saundra Edwards and husband Jerry and Pat Wright and husband Robert of Fulton; brother, Don Maddox and wife Nina of Fulton; two sisters, Peggy Garrett of Columbia and Rosa Robison of Ashland; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Richard Giboney and George Giboney; brothers, Joe Maddox and Johnnie Ray Maddox; and sister, Annie May Maddox. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Thomas Tenney officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
