Michael Lee Nickens Sr., 57, of Fulton, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 18, 2012, at University of Missouri Hospital. He was born October 4, 1954, in Callaway County, the son of the late Fred Nickens Jr. and Vera Mae Nickens who reside at the home. Mike attended Fulton Public Schools where he was a member of the track team. Upon completion, he worked for Richmond and sons carpeting for 20 years of his life. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Mike had a passion for dancing and music. You could always catch Mike sitting in the front yard with his music player enjoying the outside life. Mike also spent the last years of his life with a special friend, Kim Delong Fry, who also preceded him in death. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons, Michael Johnson (Tamara), of Tampa, Fla., Michael Nickens (Rudy), of Columbia; three daughters, Demeka Galbreath, of St. Louis, Brandy Vaughn, of Columbia, and Matasha Nickens, of Fulton; two sisters Vesta Mae Lawson (Perry) and Fredetta Gillette (Ronnie), both of Fulton; two brothers, Rodney Nickens, of Fulton and Flynn Nickens of Fulton; nine grandchildren, Deona, T'Mea, Desmond, Javar, Tyshawn, Taeon, Ty'Reion, Leiland, Taywon, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mike was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents; father, Fred Nickens Jr.; brother, Reginald Nickens and niece Candi Nickens. Mike now sits in heaven awaiting our arrivalÖuntil we meet again! Visitation will be Saturday, March 24, 2012, from 11-1 p.m. with funeral service to follow at Second Christian Church. Graveside will be at Southside Cemetary. Memorial contributions may be given in care of Houser Millard who is handling the arrangements.
