Benjamin Forrest Phillips, 63, of Fulton, answered the call of Jesus on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at his home. He was born in Fulton on November 28, 1948, son to Juanita Phillips and Robert Logan Jr. Ben was a 1966 graduate of Fulton High School. He was a man of many interests and talents. He served as a fire fighter, later earning the rank of Chief, for more than 25 years in Chicago, Ill. and later graduating from the Missouri Police Academy. Ben was a former member of the Fulton City Council and an election judge. He was a 12 degree black belt, a health food fanatic and he enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He loved to cook, winning awards for his food and at one time owned his own restaurant. Ben was a member of Second Christian Church of Fulton, utilizing his talents to serve breakfast to the Sunday School, organizing the food preparation for the annual picnic and other church functions. He loved his family deeply. Ben leaves behind to cherish his memory: his mother, Juanita Phillips; one daughter, Lisa Thompson (Stacy Childs) of Fulton; one grandson, Adonte Childs; two sisters, Stephanie (James) Yancey and Karen McNeil of Dallas, Texas; and a host of uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Ben was preceded in death by: his father, Robert Logan Jr.; and a brother, Terry Logan. He will be missed by all. Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Second Christian Church in Fulton with Reverend Cedric Harris officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Second Christian Church, Fulton, in the name of Benjamin Forrest Phillips.
