Fred Bangerter, 83, of New Bloomfield, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012, at his home. He was born December 22, 1928, in St. Louis, the son of the late Fred Bangerter Sr. and Oleta (Beaven) Bangerter. In February 1991, Fred was united in marriage to the love of his life, Darlene (Davis) Bangerter, who survives his passing. Fred was a graduate of Bayless High School in 1946 and attended Washington University. After school, Fred served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He then moved on to Bugle Printing Company where he was a printer for over 30 years. Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, bowling, and playing cards. He was able to strike up a conversation with anyone and talk at length about almost any subject. Children gravitated toward him and he was always kind and patient with them. He stayed well informed and enjoyed discussing politics and religion. Frequently stubborn, Fred defied his doctors and lived longer than their predictions. He remained active to the very moment the Lord called him home. Shortly after moving to New Bloomfield, Fred joined St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fulton where he served as a trustee for nine years. He enjoyed the "Country Life" and spent many hours enjoying the beautiful gifts of God.
