Russell Eugene Derleth

Russell Eugene Derleth, 84, of Fulton, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012, in Temple, Texas. He was born on the family farm near Mokane on December 12, 1927, to the late Louis and Elizabeth (Maddox) Derleth. Russell was a Korean War veteran serving in the U. S. Navy as a member of Underwater Demolition Team-3. He was a gifted poet and artist and nothing gave him more pleasure than sharing this gift with everyone who knew him. He loved spending time on his farm, walking the woods and enjoying all that nature had to offer. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by: two sons, Rod Derleth and Tad (Jenny) Derleth of Fulton; two daughters, Pandra (Ronnie) Hubbell of Navasota, Texas and Leah (Dave) Dunavant of Fulton; five grandchildren, Adam Derleth, Tony and Kelsey Dunavant, and Blaine and Keely Derleth; and one sister, Bonnie (Elton) Maddox of Fulton. He was preceded in death by: his parents; one brother, Leslie Derleth; and one sister, Frances Saling. A memorial service for the family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Veterans Administration Hospice Unit at Olin E. Teague Medical Center in Temple, Texas.
