Charles Joe Gibbs, 76, of Fulton, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012, at his home. He was born September 19, 1935, in Farber, the son of the late Lewis Waldo Gibbs and the late Eliza Josephine (Crockett) Gibbs. On July 5, 1954, he was united in marriage to Alice Mae (Perry) Gibbs, who survives his passing. Joe worked for the City of Fulton Street Department for 36 years and retired in 1995. He enjoyed taking care of his cattle, cutting firewood, and fishing. In addition to his wife, Joe will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one daughter, Deborah Sue Albert and husband Steve of Fulton; four sisters, Janet Foster and husband Chuck of Lohman, Fay Jackson of Texas, Jane Glasford and husband Bob of Fulton, and Jill Atterbery and her special friend Paul of Fulton, two brothers, Lewis Gibbs and wife Marylin of Higginsville, and Larry Gibbs and wife Mary of Fulton; two granddaughters, Laura Lock and husband Andy and Rebecca Wright and husband Casey; and five great-grandchildren, Claire Lock, Drew Lock, Grant Wright, Dawson Wright, and Chase Tucker Wright. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by one son, Charles Raymond Gibbs; one daughter, Cheryl Dean Gibbs; three brothers, Edward Gibbs, Jack Gibbs, and Raymond Gibbs; and one sister, Julie Gibbs. A private graveside service for family and friends will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Fulton under the direction of Maupin Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Crowson officiating.
