William (Bill) Richard Whitehead Jr

William (Bill) Richard Whitehead Jr, 65, of Fulton, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at his home. He was born February 8, 1947, in Peoria, Ill., to William R. "Whitey" Whitehead and Bertie (Broadstone) Whitehead. In April 1985, he was united in marriage to Marilyn (Rankin) Whitehead, who survives his passing. Bill was a graduate of Limestone High School in Peoria, Ill., and completed a degree from Columbia College in Administration of Justice. He served in the Illinois Air National Guard for six years as a security policeman. Bill moved to Missouri and worked in law enforcement for 22 years holding positions with the University of Missouri Police Force, Boone County Sheriff's Office, and was the Director of Security for Columbia College. After retiring from law enforcement, he worked at Wal-Mart in Fulton for 17 years. Bill enjoyed the outdoors and fished and hunted throughout the mid-Missouri area. He enjoyed camping and boating with his family, especially on Mark Twain Lake. Bill enjoyed plants and gardens and worked to make his view from the back deck one of his favorite sitting spots. Bill was a member of the Central Christian Church in Fulton and enjoyed family and friends of the area. In addition to his wife, Bill will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Koda Hendrix and her husband Gary, granddaughter Laine of Highland, Ill.; Carmen Corey and husband Travas, grandchildren Brianne and Aaron of Fulton; Emily Sargent and her husband Tommy of Houston, Texas; and his brother, Charles (Chuck) Whitehead of Peoria, Ill. Bill was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Brother Bob Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service also at Maupin Funeral Home.
