Arthur Lewis Holliday, Jr

Arthur Lewis Holliday, Jr. (Art), 87, of Prairie Home, passed away at home on Saturday, January 7, 2012, after a lengthy battle with bone marrow cancer. Arthur was born June 22, 1924, in Boonville, Missouri; the son of Arthur Lewis, Sr. and Clara Schmidt Holliday. He married Helen Dorothy Ernst, the love of his life, on June 23, 1948. A lifelong carpenter and farmer, he lived in the Hallsville and Harrisburg communities before returning home to Prairie Home. He retired from the University of Missouri Carpenter's Shop. His passion was building and remodeling homes. He was a member of the Pisgah Baptist Church, proudly serving overseas in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, daughter Barbara (Hubert) Hickam of Jamestown, son David (Schatzie) of Fulton, five grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by a daughter, Sandra Cook, a sister, Lois Nott, a grandson, Kenneth Neumann, Jr. and sons-in-law Kenneth Neumann and John Brumett. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service. A memorial service will be held at Pisgah Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on January 14. Arthur's body was donated to medical science and remains will be buried at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice Compasses or Pisgah Cemetery in care of Arthur Holliday Memorial, P.O. Box 84, Prairie Home, Mo. 65068
