Harold Dean Kirk, 73, of Fulton, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Missouri VeteranÃs Home in Mexico. He was born June 9, 1938, in Fulton, Mo., the son of Rosie Elizabeth Kirk. He was united in marriage to Doris Marie Smith, on June 5, 1976, at the United Methodist Church in Fulton. She survives. Harold retired from the United States Navy after proudly serving for 20 years. He received a Certificate of Recognition for his service during the period of the Cold War for promoting peace and stability for the nation. His favorite pastime was fishing. He was of the Catholic faith. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Doris; four sons, Dennis McKnight of Fulton, David McKnight and wife Wanda of Marble Hill, Dean McKnight and wife Shirley of Jefferson City and Dale McKnight of Fulton; one daughter, Paula Gabelsberger and husband Don of Frankenstein; one brother, Delbert Holliday of Fulton; one sister, Mary Ann Dove of Fulton; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton.
