Cecil R. Kemp, 75, of Mokane, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012, at University Hospital in Columbia. He was born on February 28, 1936, in Mokane, the son of the late Thomas A. Kemp and the late Bessie M. (Rogers) Kemp. On June 16, 1978, he was united in marriage to Cynthia Pierce Kemp, who preceded him in death in 2009. Cecil worked for Hensley Mining and the South Callaway R-II Bus Barn until he retired. Cecil will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons, Cecil Kemp Jr. of Washougal, Wash. and Matt Gode of Mokane; two daughters, Anita Bowen of Springfield and Kathryn Snider of Springfield; one step-son, Charles Estes of Fulton; two step-daughters, Linda Krueger of Kingdom City and Sheryl Johnson of Auxvasse; seven grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Claude Kemp, Dean Kemp, Dale Kamp, and Gale Kemp, all of Mokane; two sisters, Loreene Pierce of Steedman and Neva Shiverdecker of Mokane; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Cecil was preceded in death by one daughter, Amy Pierce; two brothers, John A. Kemp and Frances Kemp; and two brothers-in-law, Gene Pierce and Frank Shiverdecker. He will be missed and loved by all, including his two best friends and companions, Fido and Sissy. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012, at Maupin Funeral Home, with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. There will be a private family burial at a later date. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton.
