Jay B Shriver

Jay B. Shriver, 96, of Bellingham, Wash., passed away Friday, February 10, 2012. He was born September 15, 1915, in Powersville, Mo., the son of the late Beecher Shriver and the late Katie (Godfrey) Shriver. Jay graduated from Powersville High School in 1935. He then attended Truman State University in Kirksville. Jay retired from Danuser Machine Company in 1982 after serving for 38 years as plant superintendent. Jay and Cecil Shriver were married for 58 years until her death in 1997. Jay and Cecil were avid travelers, card players, square dancers and Mizzou football fans. In his later years he enjoyed ballroom dancing and belonged to several dance clubs. For many years Jay regularly joined his circle of friends at the round table at the Fulton County Club. He enjoyed starting the day over coffee with his friends at Mom's Corner CafÈ. Jay will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, Ronald Gene Shriver, of Bellingham, Wash.; two grandchildren, J. Brent Shriver and Barbara Jo Reid; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, Jay was preceded in death by two brothers, Ian Shriver and Ray Shiver; and two sisters, Marie Shriver Gatrel and Avis Shriver Roberts. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Reverend Ed Varnum officiating. Interment will be held at Callaway Memorial Gardens.
