Leland E Austin

Leland E. Austin, 93, of Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at his home. He was born on December 28, 1918, in Williamsburg, the son of the late William Everett Austin and the late Dullie (Dews) Austin. On June 4, 1941, he was united in marriage to Helen (Spradlin) Austin, who survives his passing. Leland was an agent and president of the board of Farmersí Mutual Insurance for several years. He was a Deacon at Unity Baptist Church from 1961 until his passing. He enjoyed his land, horses, spending time with family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. Leland enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. In addition to his wife, Leland will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three sons, Jerry Leland Austin and wife Beverly of Fulton, Everett Arlin Austin and wife Dianna of Fulton, and Dwight Austin and wife Patsy of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren, Todd Austin and wife Melissa of Fulton, Kevin Austin and wife Katherine of Williamsburg, Amy Umbright and husband Kevin of Branson, Matthew Austin and wife Anastasia of Leawood, Kan., Keith Austin and wife Jennell of Fulton, Laura Morts and husband Ryan of Fulton, Brady Austin of Lake St. Louis, and John Carey Austin of Harrisburg; 11 great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Jacob Austin, Kaylee and Carson Umbright, Naiya Austin, Kyle and Rhian Austin, Sydney Morts, Tyler Austin, and Natalie and Gwen Austin; two brothers, Gene Austin and wife Joyce of Williamsburg, and Clay Austin and wife Brenda of Hartsburg; and one sister, Leota Mae Baber and husband Jesse of Mexico. In addition to his parents, Leland was preceded in death by one brother, John Dews Austin; and one sister, Joan Gowin. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Unity Baptist Church in Fulton, with Reverend Robert Korff and Reverend James Preston officiating. Interment will be held at Unity Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton.
