Walter E. Oestreich Jr., 87, of Fulton, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Fulton Manor Care Center. He was born on October 5, 1924, in Fulton, the son of the late Walter E. Oestreich Sr. and Statie J. (Davis) Oestreich. Walter served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. He was a Staff Sergeant during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant. He then began working at Callaway Electric Cooperative where he worked from 1946-1996, serving as General Manager for 25 years. Walter also served as president of the Kiwanis Club, president of the Chamber of Commerce, was on the board of directors for the State Association of Electric Cooperatives, and was president of the board of Central Electric Power Cooperative. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed being with family and friends. Walter will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four sons, Jaime Oestreich and wife Pam, Joe Oestreich and wife Ann, Scott Oestreich and wife Sulea, and John Oestreich and wife Pattie, all of Fulton; and one daughter, Lori Quick and husband Tony, of Fulton; 10 grandchildren, Leah Ann, Seth, Brad, Mallory, Taylor, Gage, Gavin and wife Ashlie, Wade, Keaton, and T.J. Quick; two great- grandchildren, Addie and Ava; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by one sister, Billee Williams. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2012, at Maupin Funeral Home with Reverend W.D. Lockhart officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2012, also at Maupin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church or Central Missouri Honor Flight c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd, Fulton, MO 65251.
