HARRIS Bruce Tyre Harris, 58, of Fulton, passed away at his home on December 16, 2012. He was born November 3, 1954 to Overton T. Harris and the late Rosemary L. Harris. While Bruce ultimately died of cancer, he felt strongly that he won his battle with the disease. He never let the disease control his outlook on life, his relationships with people, or the outcomes that he wanted to achieve. In addition to his father, Bruce will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Sue Harris; two sons, Glenn Harris and wife, Natasha, of Fulton, and Jim Williams and wife, Trisha, of Ballwin; one daughter, Melody Davies and husband, Bob, of Kinsley, Kans.; one brother, Tom Harris of Fulton; one sister, Helen Logan of Fulton; and seven grandchildren, Sydney Williams, Jake Williams, Bruce Davies, Will Davies, Griffin Davies, Joshua Fowler, and Aubrey Harris. Bruce was actively involved in his community, serving on numerous boards and foundations. While he never kept a running list of his community involvement, the overall economic and educational health of Callaway County was important to him. Bruce felt strongly that for a community to be healthy and vibrant it needed to provide a great education for its population and then great opportunities for those people to take advantage of if they wanted to. Such entities as Westminster College and Fulton Public Schools Foundation were quite special to him. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church under the direction of Maupin Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton. A private family interment ceremony will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Fulton Public Schools Foundation, Westminster College, or Hospice Compassus c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd., Fulton, MO 65251.
