Jo Anne Klund, 75, of Fulton passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Callaway Community Hospital. She was born November 4, 1937, in Oblong, Ill., the daughter of the late Leonard and Pauline (Carlton) Burk. On June 15, 1958, she was united in marriage to Donald Klund at the United Methodist Church in Columbia. He survives at their home. Jo Anne retired in 1993 after teaching 6 years at Harrisburg and 15 years at North Callaway (Hatton). She was a gifted educator and the recipient of the Optimist Teacher of the year award. She taught Adult Basic Education in the public sector as well as the penal system. She had worked at State Farm Insurance and as a legal secretary for Union Insurance Company in Bloomington, Ill. Jo Anne was a member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling with Don and visited every state with the exception of Alaska. They spent three weeks in Hawaii and enjoyed their 25th anniversary cruise on the USS Norway to Nassau and St. Thomas. Jo Anne had a beautiful voice. She sang with the University Singers at Missouri University, and in the choir at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fulton. She also served as Chairman of the Board for the church. In recent years, Jo Anne and Don were avid square dancers. They served as President of the Callaway Callico Square Dance Club and vice president of the Northeast District Square and Round Dance Federation Board. Jo Anne will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four sons, Jon Keith and his wife Cecily of Hartsburg, Ronald Kevin and his wife Renee, David Michael, and Timothy Wayne of Fulton; sisters-in-law, Linda Burk of Harrisburg, Carol Texier and husband Arthur of Osage Beach; brother-in-law, Bill Klund and wife Connie of Jefferson City; six grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Leonard Burk; and step-brother, Terry Burk. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastors Bruce Williamson and Ed Varnum officiating. Entombment will follow in Callaway Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m., on Friday, December 14, 2012, at the funeral home.
