John Price Wilson, 94, of New Bloomfield, entered the gates of Heaven on Thursday, August 23, 2011. He was born November 5, 1917, in Vandalia, Mo., the son of John Thomas Wilson and Genevieve K. Adams. He was married to Mary Wright who preceded him in death and later to Mildred Jones Palmer who also preceded him in death. John farmed around Bowling Green, Mo. until 1967, when he came to New Bloomfield. He worked at Boone County Hospital and Capital Region Hospital in Jefferson City until he retired in 1980. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge of New Bloomfield #60 AFAM and was a 50 year Mason. He belonged to Indian Creek Baptist Church until he came to New Bloomfield and joined Dry Fork Baptist Church. After he retired in 1980, he became involved with management of Golden Village Retirement Home until 2011. He served as treasurer of Dry Fork Baptist Cemetery for many years. He was mayor of New Bloomfield in 1988 & 1989 and sponsored the building of the City and was on the council as alderman for over 20 years. In 2004, the New Bloomfield City Hall and Veteran's Park were named in his honor. John is survived by two sons, Gary N. Wilson and his wife Rita of Bellville, Ill., and Harry J. Wilson and his wife Martha of Climax Springs, Mo.; two step-sons, Fred Palmer of Columbia, Mo., and William P. Palmer and wife Marion of Anderson, Ind.; step-daughter-in-law, Joanne Palmer; five grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, plus eight great-grandchildren. Along with his wives, he was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Dawson of New Bloomfield; two brothers, Claude Wilson of Warsaw, Mo., and Cyril Wilson of Kansas City, Mo.; one step-son, Wallace R. Palmer; step-daughter-in-law, Cindi Palmer; and grandson, Kevin Palmer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at Dry Fork Baptist Church in New Bloomfield. Private family burial will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2012, at Debo Funeral Home in Holts Summit.
