Myrtle Ann Maddox, 82, of Fulton, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012, at her home. She was born October 5, 1929, in Fulton, the daughter of the late William T. Atkinson and Beatrice Virginia (McVey) Atkinson. Myrtle retired from the Fulton State Hospital after 43 years as switchboard operator. Myrtle will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons, Chuck Maddox of Fulton and Rocky Maddox and wife, Debbie, of Fulton; two daughters, Kay Burkemper and husband, Lou, of Wentzville, and Sherri Hayes and husband, Jeff, of Columbia; one sister, Sara White and husband, Manley, of Fulton; six grandchildren, Sabrina Dydell, Kerri Williams, Justin Laswell, Amanda Harris, and Alvin and Clinton Maddox; one step-grandson, Nate Burkemper; one step-granddaughter, Katie Hayes; nine great-grandchildren; one niece, Sharalee Dias; and one nephew, Kenny Thompson. In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her special friend and companion, Jack Brammer; one brother, Bill Atkinson Jr.; one sister, Marceline Atkinson; and one nephew, Corky Thompson. It was Myrtle's wishes to be cremated. Graveside services for Ms. Maddox and Mr. Jack Brammer will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at McCredie Cemetery in Kingdom City under the direction of Maupin Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Crowson officiating.
