Lyle Lee Kump Jr.

Lyle Lee Kump Jr., 49, of New Bloomfield, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Doctors Nursing and Rehab Center in Salem, Illinois, after a courageous 23 month battle with ALS. He was born July 25, 1962, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, a son of Lyle L. and Shirley (Crieger) Kump Sr. Lee was a 1981 graduate of Northrup High School in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and moved to Missouri in 1993. On October 31, 1999, Lee was united in marriage in Chamois, Missouri, to Jan M. Sheley, who survives at their home. Lee was an over-the-road truck driver for Opies, Van Campen, and various other truck companies. For the past three years he was owner/operator with February 14 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1981 1983. He attended Southside Baptist Church in Fulton, Missouri. Lee and his wife raised Pembroke Welsh Corgi dogs and Registered Appaloosas Show Horses, several of which were Top 5 placing contenders at the Appaloosa World Championship Show. Lee got to show one of their own yearlings at the 2008 Appaloosa World Championship Show in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club. He enjoyed horses, Civil War Reenactments, loved watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Jr., and enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors. He also loved his faithful companion Sadie Mae. "If love would have saved you, you would have lived forever" author unknown. Along with his wife Jan, Lee is also survived by a daughter: Danielle Marie Emenhiser (husband Matt) of Hicksville, Ohio; two grandsons: Michael Gabryel and Jayson Alan; his parents: Lyle L. and Shirley Kump Sr. of Mount Sterling, Missouri; and one brother: Raymond Kump of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at the Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Holts Summit. Memorial Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made in memory of Lee to the ALS Association Indiana Chapter, in care of the funeral home.
