Ron Lutz

Ron Lutz, 83, of Fulton, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011. He was born on June 14, 1928, in Forest Green, the son of the late Elmer and Ernell (Moore) Lutz. He was united in marriage to Mary Virginia Julian Meeink on November 3, 1950, in Harrison, Arkansas. She preceded him in death April 2, 2003. Ron attended high school in Carrollton. After graduation in 1946, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea until his discharge in 1948. He worked in radio for 50 years, starting with KFAL as a DJ in 1957. In 1958, he was awarded the Mr. DJ USA award. Ron hosted the Rooster Creek Show for 52 years. In 2008, he was inducted into the Country Music Showcase International Hall of Fame. At the 106th Annual Kingdom of Callaway Supper, the "Rooster Creek Boys" were awarded the Distinguished Service Award. Ron was a proud member of Masonic Lodge of Fulton #48, member of Moolah Shriners, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2657 of Fulton. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three daughters, Vicki Miller and husband Roman of Steedman, Becki Acison and husband Vince of Fulton, and Chrisi Baker and husband Dewayne of Calwood; six granddaughters, T.J. Middaugh, Nikki Thomas and her husband Danny, Erika Koetting and her husband Jeff, Mikey Salisbury, Emma Elley and her husband Adam, and Erin Rinehart and her husband Richard; and 10 great-grandchildren, Bethany Middaugh, Matt Salisbury, Cassi "Hoppy" Thomas, Madalynn "Stan" Salisbury, Maureen "Ollie" Salisbury and Abby Middaugh, Seth Elley, Jill Koetting, Sam Henry Elley and Evelyn Rinehart. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton, with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2011, at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. Interment will be in Steedman Cemetery, Steedman.
