Earl J. Ballew, 90, of Marshall, Mo., passed away Friday, September 9, 2011. at his daughter's home on He was born on September 13, 1920, in Marshall, the son of the late George W. and Ida M. (Rowland) Ballew. He retired from the Missouri Pacific Railroad after 38 years of employment with the B&B Department in Kansas City, Mo. He was a Corporal in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in the South Pacific as a telecommunications specialist operating a teletype. He was a life member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He leaves behind his son: Earl Leroy Ballew and wife Shirley of Clinton, Mo.; daughter: Janis E. Barnes and husband Tony of Fulton, Mo.; six grandchildren; Christina (Ballew) Sidduqui of Corona, Calif., Jason Crank of Marshall, Mo., Nathan Cornine who is currently stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base, Scott Elmore, Andrew Barnes-Bruaner and Tyler Barnes-Leeper of Fulton, Mo.; three great-grandsons: Zackary Elmore of Fulton, Mo., Joseph Sidduqui of Clearwater, Fla., and Shaun Sidduqui of Corona, Calif.; one great-granddaughter; Sonya Sidduqui of Riverside, Calif. He was preceded in death by four sisters; three brothers; his wife, Doris L. (Green) Ballew; one grandson; and one great-grandson. Services are pending with Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall, Mo. Interment with full military honors will be at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, Mo.
