Lottie Louise Bush

Lottie Louise Bush, age 87, of Fulton, formerly of Warrensburg, passed away Friday, May 17, 1924, at Boone Hospital in Columbia. She was born May 17, 1924, in Warrensburg, the daughter of Ross Keith and Martha Etta (Lamb) Barkhurst. On January 24, 1948, she was united in marriage to Glen Otis Bush. He preceded her in death in September 1987. Mrs. Bush served in the USNR Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service, "WAVES" from 1944 to 1948. She was a Yoeman First Class and was recently honored when participated on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C when it was discovered it was her 87th birthday. After serving in the military, she worked for MFA Central Cooperative as a bookkeeper for 13 years. She then sold insurance and real estate for 28 years. After retiring in 1987, she was a volunteer for Volunteers Missions through the SBC Home Mission Board. Mrs. Bush then served at the Baptist Mission Center in Oklahoma City, Okla., from 1999-2000. Later she worked for Wyoming Southern Baptist Convention in Casper, Wyo., cooking in camp at Mt. Top Assembly on Mt. Casper, from 1995 until 2001. Lottie Louise Bush is survived by one daughter Glenda L. Smith and her husband Ricky Ray of Fulton; two granddaughters, Cynthia Lea Bennett and her husband John of Nixa, Mo. and Rebecca Ann Smith and her fiancé Lt.(jg) Joe Stovall of Richmond, Va. She was close to two good friends, Anna Prickett and Mildred Riley. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Billy Barkhust at age of three in 1924, Andrew Lifus Barkhurst on March 19, 1997, and Lester Ross Barkhurst on May 19, 1997. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, with Brother Robert Collins and Reverend Larry Paris officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Gideon's International of the church of the donor's choice and can be left at the funeral home.
