Betty Graham Griggs Royer, 86, of Fulton, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at her home. She was born April 5, 1925, in Eolia, Mo., to Patrick M. Graham and Addie Agnes Hewitt Graham. On May 28, 1948, Betty married Fred Griggs in Wichita Falls, Texas, Fred preceded her in death in September of 1987. Two children were born of this union, Fred Alan Griggs (Carolyn ) of Tom Bean, Texas and Judy Haldeman (Michael) of Fulton, Mo., and they survive. On May 24, 1989, Betty married Earl Royer in Bowling Green, Mo. He preceded her in death in June of 2002. Throughout her life, Betty was very active in her church, especially in children's ministry. Helping others was an important facet of her loving personality, and she spent her time well. She not only taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school, but was also a member of the choir, and was involved with nursing home ministry as well. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Columbia, and more recently First Assembly of God Church in Fulton, Mo. Aside from her children, Betty is survived by a stepson, Larry Royer of Virginia Beach, Va., her grandchildren: Stephen Haldeman of Waxahachie, Texas, Matthew Haldeman (Lauren) of Liberty Mo., Michael Haldeman of Fulton, Andrew Griggs, (Naomi) of Bonham, Texas, Aaron Griggs, Bethany Griggs, and Hannah Griggs, all of Tom Bean, Texas, and her greatgrandchildren: Lauren Griggs and Jesse Griggs, both of Bonham, Texas. In addition to both husbands preceding her in death, she was also preceded by her parents and siblings. Margaret Cote, Charles Graham, Grace Seeley, Zelma Patterson, Evalena Fisher, Florence Ransdell, Ida Sly, Bessie Frakes, Walter Graham and Bill LaRace. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., the evening prior, Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Latin American Child Care or First Assembly of God Building Fund, both located at 605 Old Jefferson City Road, Fulton, MO 65251.
