Ernest C. Salmons, 88, of Fulton passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at Missouri Veteran's Home in Mexico. He was born November 27, 1922, in Callaway County to Vollie C. and Lucille Shryock Salmons. He was united in marriage to Minnie Witt on March 1, 1947. She survives at their home. Ernest served in the United States Army from 1943 until 1946, earning the rank of Corporal. He was a truck driver for Davis Oil for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He then drove for Fulton Public Schools for five years and SERVE, Inc. for two years. Ernest was a member of the Church of God Holiness, serving on their Board of Deacons for thirty years. Along with his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory, one son, Dwane Salmons and wife Debra of Fulton; two grandchildren, Matthew and Brooklyn Salmons of Fulton; three brothers, Albert, Ted, and Joe Salmons; one sister, Dot Vaughn; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and four brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, at the Church of God Holiness with Reverend E.G. Garrett, Reverend I.C. Holland, and Reverend Travis Sayler officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p,m, on Friday, July 8, 2011, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton.
