Judith Virginia Dougherty, 67, passed into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, December 29, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 20, 1944, in Sanger, California, the daughter of the late Clarence Akers and of Virginia (Mendenhall) Akers, of Pine Flat Lake, California. She was united in marriage to her husband of 50 years, Ronald Harold Dougherty, who survives her passing. An elementary school teacher, Judy will be re- membered by all of her friends and family for her in- domitable spirit and will, her love of children and animals, and for her incredible skills in gardening and sewing. In addition to her mother and husband, Judy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four daughters; Lynda Dougherty-Kelly and husband Sean of Mariposa, California, Kathleen Dougherty of Scotts Valley, California, Debbie Dougherty and husband Thomas Clark of Williamsburg, and Jennifer O'Brien and husband Gordon of Pioneer, California; one son, G. James Dougherty of Corpus Christi, Texas; eight grandchildren, Lyndsey and Zachary Kelly; Fionna, Finnian, and Freya Clark; Simone and Catlynn Dougherty-Noernberg; and Pearl O'Brien; two brothers, Lee Akers and Buck Akers; and her much loved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at the Nine Mile Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg with Reverend Jim Cruickshank officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
