Frances Bernice Sexton

Frances Bernice Sexton, 89, of Fulton, was called home by God on Monday, July 25, 2011. She was born February 24, 1922, in Englewood, Missouri, the daughter of Harry Sexton and Alice (Logan) Sexton. She was a graduate of Douglas High School. Her walk with Christ started at the early age of 12 when she was baptized at Log Providence Baptist Church by Reverend Will Coleman. She was an usher, a member of the national and state usher boards, and president of the Mount Carmel District Usher Board for 10 years. Bernice was proud to be a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society. Bernice was a person who loved others. She took time for others, caring for the sick, cooking for those who were hungry and welcoming people in her home. She never met a stranger and was referred to by many other names: sister, auntie and friend. She leaves to celebrate her home-going: one step- daughter, Barbara West of Columbia; one sister, Darleen Douglas of Fulton; one brother, Robert Douglas of Fulton; close friends and caregivers, Kay Strotten and Lana Petty of Fulton; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was loved by all. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents. Friends will be received from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at the Millard Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 4, at 11:00 a.m. at the Millard Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Charles R. Jackson and Reverend James Gray officiating.
