Area sports: Events postponed, canceled by rain

A number of Callaway County events were affected by heavy rains that rolled through the area Tuesday.

The second-round games for the 24th annual Fulton Tournament have been postponed until today. At Fulton High School, No. 4 Fulton will take on top-seeded Hallsville at 4 p.m., while No. 2 Southern Boone will play No. 3 Fatima at 6:30 p.m. in the semifinals.

No. 7 North Callaway will face No. 6 Moberly at 6:30 p.m. at Westminster College.

The fifth-place game is still scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, while the third-place and championship game are still set for 4 and 6:30 p.m. Friday at Fulton High School.

Fulton's boys tennis match against Helias, as well as the girls soccer game and freshman baseball game against School of the Osage, were canceled and will not be rescheduled.

Westminster's baseball game against Eureka (Ill.) College scheduled for Tuesday was canceled and will not be made up.

William Woods' opening game in the American Midwest Conference Softball Tournament has been pushed to 9:30 a.m. today. The seventh-seeded Lady Owls will face No. 2 Central Baptist to begin pool play. The tournament is at Antimi Softball Complex in Columbia.

North Callaway will compete today in the Eastern Missouri Conference meet at Wright City. The meet had been originally scheduled for Tuesday.

New Bloomfield's home baseball game against St. Elizabeth has been postponed. A rescheduled date has not been announced.
