MU softball tops Omaha

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri softball picked up a mid-week win after beating Nebraska-Omaha 7-4 on Wednesday at the Mizzou Softball Stadium.

Missouri got off to a fast start after Kirsten Mack hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning and two runs scored on an error. Natalie Fleming added an RBI single in the inning.

Mack hit a two-run home run in the second, and Fleming hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third. Nebraska-Omaha got a pair of runs in the sixth and scored on a two-run home run in the seventh.

Fleming went 3-for-3, Gabby Garrison went 2-for-2 and Mack went 2-for-4. Cheyenne Baxter (14-5) got the win after going four innings and giving up four runs and two walks with a strikeout. Madi Norman (Tipton High School) pitched three innings and gave up four runs on six hits and a walk.

Missouri (27-18, 5-9 Southeastern Conference) hosts Kentucky at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
