Missouri basketball defeats BC Silute, improves to 2-0 during Italy tour

The Missouri basketball team won its second game in Italy, defeating Lithuanian basketball club BC Silute 92-78 on Tuesday.

Sophomore guard Cullen VanLeer led the Tigers in scoring with 26 points. Fellow sophomore guard Terrence Phillips had 10 rebounds, seven assists and six steals and sophomore forward Kevin Puryear had 16 points with four rebounds.

Freshman forward Willie Jackson had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds and former high school teammate freshman guard Frankie Hughes had seven points and three assists.

The Tigers shot 44.4 percent from the field and made 36.4 percent of their shots beyond the three-point line. They grabbed 47 rebounds.

The score was tied at 72-all after the third quarter, but Missouri outscored BC Silute 20-6 in the fourth to close out the game. The Tigers outscored BC Silute in every quarter except the third.

Next up for the Tigers is Vicenza Select on Friday. They return from Italy on Monday.
