SPRINGFIELD - Hornets junior Aiden Petterson went 1-2 at the Class 1 state singles tennis tournament after being eliminated in a 6-1, 6-2 loss to St. Michael the Archangel junior Justin House in the consolation quarterfinals Friday.
Petterson - making his first appearance at state - completed the season with a 17-4 record. He opened play Friday at the Cooper Tennis Complex with a 6-0, 6-1 loss to John Burroughs sophomore Rory Sutter, last year's Class 1 runner-up.
Petterson then bounced back with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Trenton junior Justin House in the consolation first round.
