High school track and field: Lewis leads North Callaway Class 3 sectional qualifiers

CENTRALIA - Senior Paden Lewis triumphed in the shot put and discus for the Thunderbirds with respective throws of 51 feet, 4 inches and 152 feet, 1 inch at the Class 3, District 4 championships Saturday.

The North Callaway boys and girls combined to qualify in eight events for next Saturday's Sectional 2 championships at Montgomery County. The top four district finishers advanced in each event.

Senior Khobi Kellerman was also victorious in the 1,600 in 4 minutes, 49.69 seconds Saturday as the Thunderbirds finished seventh in District 4 with 48 points. Sophomore Dakota Cash came in fourth in the 100 (:11.66).

In the girls' division, sophomore Brittany Hawkins was third in the shot put (35-3 1/2) as North Callaway placed eighth in District 4 with 35.83 points.

Junior Daelyn Schmauch took fourth in the 800 (2:32.48) for the Ladybirds, sophomore Kaleigh Moore finished fourth in the 3,200 (13:01.94) and junior Kira Douglas came in fourth in the pole vault (8-0).

Centralia and Montgomery County captured the boys' and girls' District 4 team titles with 160 and 126 points, respectively.
