High school baseball: Southern Boone 1, Fulton 0

ASHLAND - The No. 3 seed Eagles tallied the game's only run on a two-out error in the bottom of the seventh inning to outlast the No. 6 Hornets in the Class 4, District 9 quarterfinals Saturday.

Southern Boone (16-7) advanced despite being limited to four hits by Fulton senior pitcher Evan Gray (1-5), who took the complete-game loss.

The Hornets - ending their season with a 9-15 record - collected nine hits, but stranded eight runners on base. Junior center fielder Jake Moore was 1-for-1 with a double and two walks.

Senior third baseman Joe Hinchie, senior right fielder Justin Leake and junior shortstop Camden Moore were each 1-for-2.
