T-Birds race past Mark Twain 55-32

KINGDOM CITY - Senior guard Khobi Kellerman tallied a game-high 16 points and head coach Matt Miller logged his 100th career victory at North Callaway in the Thunderbirds' 55-32 EMO blitz of Mark Twain on Monday night.

North Callaway - which has won two straight and five of its last six - improved to 18-6 on the season and 8-1 in the Eastern Missouri Conference. The Thunderbirds were in front 20-13 after one quarter and carried a 30-19 lead into halftime.

North Callaway entered the fourth quarter with a 41-26 advantage and secured the win by outscoring Mark Twain 14-6 over the final 8 minutes.

Kellerman grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and junior guard Gabe Cash buried five 3-pointers in providing 15 points for the Thunderbirds. Senior guard Dawson Wright contributed 10 points.

Miller has recorded 49 wins in his three seasons with the North Callaway boys. He previously posted 51 victories in three seasons as head coach of the North Callaway girls.

"The guys did an excellent job, especially on the defensive side," Miller said of Monday night's triumph. "I've been lucky to have a lot of good players who make me look like a better coach than I actually am.

"We want to keep this momentum going and have a chance to end up with a share of the conference title."

Preston Eckler paced Mark Twain (10-11, 4-5) with 11 points.

The Thunderbirds will seek a portion of the EMO championship when they end the regular season at home against Bowling Green at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
