Boys' basketball: South Callaway 67, New Bloomfield 44

MOKANE - Senior guard Treysen Gray connected for a game-high 23 points and surpassed 1,000 in his career to steer the Bulldogs past the Wildcats in the rescheduled fifth-place game of the South Callaway Tournament on Saturday.

South Callaway (12-12) - stopping a two-game losing streak - owned an 18-12 advantage after one quarter and was in front 34-23 at halftime. The Bulldogs carried a 47-32 lead into the fourth quarter.

Junior guard Tyler Lepper added 11 points for South Callaway and senior guard Drake Davidson finished with 10.

Tanner Payne logged 19 points to guide New Bloomfield (7-14), which has lost seven in a row.

"We did a great job early of limiting our turnovers and playing with great effort on the defensive end," Wildcats head coach Tim Gilmore said. "South Callaway did a nice job in the third and fourth quarters of ramping up the defensive effort, and Gray knocked down some big shots to put the game away in the fourth quarter."

New Bloomfield travels to Russellville for a Show-Me Conference contest at 6 tonight.

South Callaway goes to Eugene for an SMC matchup at 6 p.m. Friday.
