Softball: Fatima 10, New Bloomfield 3

NEW BLOOMFIELD - The Lady Wildcats committed five errors in their Show-Me Conference loss to the Lady Comets on Tuesday night.

Fatima scored a run in the top of the first inning and piled on six more in the second to build a 7-0 advantage. New Bloomfield (6-5, 1-2 SMC) scored a run in the bottom of the fourth, but the Lady Comets answered with two in the fifth to go up 9-1.

The Lady Wildcats tallied two runs in the sixth and Fatima closed out the scoring with a run in the seventh.

Senior center fielder Mackenzie Garrett was 1-for-1 with a solo home run and two runs scored as New Bloomfield finished with seven hits. Senior left fielder Parker Pitzen went 1-for-3 with a triple and scored a run.

Senior first baseman Kaylee Beck and freshman catcher Kamryn Herron were each 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Sophomore starter Sarah Abbott (3-3) was pounded for 10 runs - only four earned - on 16 hits in suffering the complete-game loss for the Lady Wildcats. Abbott struck out three and walked one.

New Bloomfield goes to Eugene for an SMC game at 5 p.m. Thursday.
