Boys' tennis: Fulton's Windsor captures Class 1 sectional championship

JEFFERSON CITY - Senior Haydon Windsor secured a Class 1 sectional singles title for the Hornets with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Moberly's Alex Fincher on Tuesday afternoon at Helias.

"Haydon's style is that he doesn't give you anything," Fulton head coach Louis Schnoebelen said. "The Moberly kid was struggling when he got to the net and Haydon's strategy was to bring him in."

Windsor preserved his perfect record at 22-0 to advance to the state tournament for a third straight year. He qualified in singles play as a sophomore in 2016 and then in doubles - teaming with Justin Adams - as a junior last year.

"It's a tremendous accomplishment for Haydon," Schnoebelen said. "We've had some pretty outstanding players come through this program in the last few years.

"We're all really proud of him."

The Class 1 state singles tournament is scheduled for May 25-26 at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
