Track and field: North Callaway's Moore advances in 1,600, 3,200

CALIFORNIA - Freshman Kaleigh Moore won both the girls' 1,600 and 3,200 meters to guide the Ladybirds to a sixth-place team finish at the Class 3, District 4 championships Saturday.

Moore posted times of 5 minutes, 45.72 seconds and 13:27.28, respectively, in the 1,600 and 3,200 to qualify for the Sectional 2 championships this Saturday at Lutheran North in St. Louis.

Sophomore Daelyn Schmauch and her sister, senior Reyna Schmauch, also advanced with respective third-place finishes in the 1,600 (5:56.71) and 3,200 (13:50.04). North Callaway finished with 46 points.

In the boys' division, junior Paden Lewis moved on by winning the shot put with a heave of 52 feet, 3 inches as North Callaway placed 12th with 20.5 points.

Senior Tanner Pezold and junior Khobi Kellerman also qualified for sectionals with a pair of fourth-place finishes, respectively, in the javelin (146-5) and 1,600 (4:53.44).

Centralia swept the District 4 girls' and boys' team titles with 153 and 131.5 points, respectively.
