Wrestling: Fulton's Kern captures title at Odessa Invitational

ODESSA - Senior Jacob Kern secured a championship at 132 pounds as the Hornets came in eighth as a team at the Odessa Invitational on Saturday.

Seniors Tucker Caswell (138 pounds) and Colton Bristol (182), sophomore Jackson Caswell (106) and freshman Eston Dews (120) each posted second-place finishes for Fulton, which totalled 43 points.

Kern (28-7) logged a 4-0 mark at 132 pounds in a round-robin format, topping it off with an 8-2 decision over Chillicothe's Lavery Jones.

Tucker Caswell (36-4) went 3-1 at 138 pounds, closing out with a 7-3 decision over Marceline's Clayton Stallo. Bristol (28-8) also compiled a 3-1 record at 182 pounds, finishing up with a 10-5 decision over Marceline's Seth Cupp.

Jackson Caswell (35-4) tallied a 3-1 mark at 106 pounds, dropping a 5-0 decision to Excelsior Springs' Ethan Day in the title match. Dews (22-14) finished 3-1 at 120 pounds, wrapping up competition with 13-3 major decision over Principia's Jacob Warrick.

Mexico collected the team title with 103 points, followed by Logan-Rogersville in second with 83 and Excelsior Springs third with 66.

The Hornets travel to Marshall for their final North Central Missouri Conference dual of the season at 6 tonight.
