Girls' basketball: North Callaway 38, Silex 30

KINGDOM CITY - The Ladybirds outscored the Lady Owls 14-5 in the fourth quarter to halt a four-game losing streak with their Eastern Missouri Conference win Thursday night.

North Callaway (11-11, 4-2 EMO) was down 18-14 at halftime, but outscored Silex 10-7 in the third quarter to close within 25-24. The Ladybirds then took control over the final 8 minutes.

Senior forward Allie Schlueter produced a game-high 21 points, seven rebounds and three steals to guide North Callaway. Junior guard Kenzie Ausfahl scored all seven of her points in the fourth quarter, converting 5-of-6 free throws.

"It's always good to win on Senior Night," Ladybirds head coach Morgan Beamer said. "Allie had a great game, both offensive and defensively, and Kenzie did a great job making pressure free throws at the end.

"Hopefully we can keep this momentum going right into districts."

Allison Harmon led Silex (7-15, 1-7) with 11 points and Mollie Stanek contributed 10.

North Callaway (1-10-1) picked up its first junior varsity victory of the season with an 18-6 triumph in the two-quarter matchup. Freshman guard Hayley Kimbley and freshman forward Julisa Moreno both had six points.

The Ladybirds travel to Mark Twain for an EMO contest at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
