Girls' basketball: Clubb, Lady Bulldogs turn back Hermann

South Callaway picks up fourth win in a row

MOKANE - South Callaway sophomore guard Paige Clubb provided a game-high 24 points and the Lady Bulldogs rallied for their fourth consecutive win, 60-51 over Hermann on Thursday night.

South Callaway (4-1) was down 38-37 to start the fourth quarter, but outscored Hermann 22-13 over the final 8 minutes.

Freshman guard Raegan Brown added 14 points for the Lady Bulldogs, who were in front 14-7 but were outscored by the Lady Bearcats 22-13 in the second quarter and trailed 29-27 at halftime.

"Each time these two teams collide it is a battle, and tonight was no exception," South Callaway head coach Darren Humphrey said. "The (Lady) Bearcats are very experienced and their height is hard to compare with, but night after night, speed has proven to be our best weapon.

"Tonight was an excellent example of this. I felt we were able to keep Hermann off-balance with both offensive and defensive changes throughout the night."

Grace Winkelmann topped the Lady Bearcats with 12 points and Allison Stiers contributed 11.

The Lady Bulldogs travel to Hallsville at 6 p.m. Monday.
