Boys' basketball: Fatima 69, New Bloomfield 50

NEW BLOOMFIELD - The Wildcats managed a meager six points in the first half in dropping their Show-Me Conference opener to the Comets on Tuesday night.

New Bloomfield (3-3) trailed 15-6 after one quarter and was then blanked 13-0 in the second quarter as Fatima built a 28-6 halftime lead. The Wildcats were down 54-25 heading to the fourth quarter.

Senior guard Jalen Martin connected for 30 points to pace New Bloomfield.

"We struggled to get off to a good start and Fatima did a great job in their half-court defense of keeping us in front and turning us over," Wildcats head coach Tim Gilmore said. "Our biggest thing we are going to have to improve on is being strong with the ball and limiting turnovers.

"This was a good game to give us a read on things we need to work on as we approach Christmas break."

New Bloomfield hosts South Callaway in a SMC clash at 6 p.m. Friday.
