Girls' basketball: Blair Oaks 64, Fulton 29

WARDSVILLE - The Lady Hornets had their two-game winning streak throttled in Monday night's rampage by the Lady Falcons.

Fulton (2-2) found itself down 23-7 after one quarter and 44-11 at halftime. The Lady Hornets trailed 59-22 to open the fourth quarter.

Sophomore guard Kayanna Gaines led Fulton with eight points and four rebounds. Sophomore guard Carly Fisher was next with six points and senior guard Alexis Sublett had five.

"We came into Blair Oaks flat," Lady Hornets head coach TJ Quick said. "They were able to get a big lead quickly on us. I think it took us back a little bit - we were unable to adjust in the first half.

"We were able to regroup and come out in the second half with a little more fight."

Fulton's junior varsity dropped its season opener to the Lady Falcons 61-17. Sophomore forward Sydney Hedgpath provided seven points and five rebounds, while freshman forward Alex Trowbridge finished with four points and four rebounds.

The Lady Hornets (1-2) bowed in the freshman contest 43-10. Guards Emily Clark and Kyela Macon each scored three points.

Fulton plays both its home and North Central Missouri Conference opener against Marshall at 6 p.m. Thursday at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium.
