Track and field: Hager, South Callaway boys tie for sixth place at Hermann

HERMANN - Junior Wyatt Hager came in second in both the javelin (140 feet, 8 inches) and pole vault (12-6) as the Bulldogs shared sixth place with Montgomery County at the Hermann Invitational on Tuesday night.

Freshman Hayden Vaught took third in the high jump (6-0) as South Callaway earned 43 points. Fulton finished in 13th place with two points.

In the girls' division, junior Maitane Sandonis was victorious in the 300 hurdles in :48.64 and placed fourth in the 100 hurdles (:17.31) to pace Fulton to an eighth-place tie with Wright City.

Senior Shawnie Hempfield prevailed in the triple jump at 34-0 as the Lady Hornets collected 38 points. Sandonis and Hempfield teamed with senior Adrea Shadbolt and sophomore Maddie Henley to take third in the 400 relay (:53.69).

Senior Adrian Mann came in second in the 300 hurdles (:50.03) as the South Callaway girls placed 10th overall with 32.5 points. The Lady Bulldogs' quartet of seniors Ashley Potter and Kaci Jordan, junior Hannah Benningfield and freshman Paige Clubb finished fourth in the 400 relay (:54.27).

Pacific and Centralia picked up the boys' and girls' team titles with 130 and 106 points, respectively.

The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs host their own South Callaway Relays on Friday, while Fulton hosts its annual Don Dobson Invitational. Both meets start at 4 p.m.
