Track and field: Berry, North Callaway girls finish third at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN - Senior Abrielle Berry set a school record in winning the shot put to spur the Ladybirds to a third-place team finish at the Bowling Green Mini Medal Meet on Friday night.

In the boys' division, senior Tanner Pezold and junior Paden Lewis also established school marks with their respective victories in the javelin and shot as North Callaway took fifth place overall.

Berry triumphed in the shot with her school-record heave of 40 feet, 9 inches as the North Callaway girls amassed 77 points. Senior Erica Garrett came in second in the javelin (90-8), while the Ladybirds' quartet of sophomores Daelyn Schmauch and Breanna Douglas, and freshmen Kaleigh Moore and Julisa Moreno finished second in the 3,200-meter relay (11 minutes, 19.04 seconds).

Freshman Makenna Allen placed third in the 100 hurdles (:19.62) and fourth in the 300 hurdles (:55.41), while freshman Olivia Brunk was third in the 400 (1:13.28). Freshman Mikayla Pennell took third in the discus (86-7).

Pezold prevailed in the javelin by achieving a school record with a throw of 150-6 as the North Callaway boys tallied 67 points. Lewis logged a school record by winning the shot with a toss of 52-9.

Junior Khobi Kellerman came in third in the 1,600 (5:11.66) for the Thunderbirds. Sophomore Will Jeffries and junior Mark Hollenberg were third (111-7) and fourth (110-7), respectively, in the discus.

The 800 relay of senior Skyler Barker, junior Garrett Dodge, sophomore Cody Lee and freshman Grant Eichman placed third (1:41.86). Kellerman and Eichman then teamed with junior Ean Rohrbach and freshman Joseph Crawford to take fourth in the 3,200 relay (9:43.78).

Host Bowling Green locked up the girls' and boys' team championships with 226 and 196 points, respectively.

North Callaway competes at Montgomery County at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
