Prep Softball: Kirksville 5, Fulton 3

The Fulton Lady Hornets were unable to recover from the Kirksville Lady Tigers' four-run first inning in Tuesday night's NCMC loss at the high school athletic complex.

Fulton (8-4, 6-2 North Central Missouri Conference) got a pair of runs back in the bottom of the third on freshman third baseman Paige Clines' two-run home run. Kirksville put up a run in the top of the sixth and senior first baseman Samantha Weber accounted for the Lady Hornets' final run with an RBI double in the bottom of the inning.

Clines and Weber were both 1-for-3 as Fulton finished with seven hits. Senior Kendalyn Roesner - who started on the mound - was 2-for-3 with two doubles, while freshman left fielder Rylee Hagens went 1-for-4 with a double.

Roesner threw just one inning in suffering the loss, allowing four earned runs on four hits. She struck out one and walked one.

The Lady Hornets go to Hannibal for an NCMC game at 5 p.m. today.
