Wilson, Ladybirds demolish Hallsville in 15-1 blitz

HALLSVILLE, Mo. - North Callaway junior center fielder Lani Wilson had two hits and drove in three runs as the Ladybirds pounded Hallsville 15-1 in six innings Wednesday night.

North Callaway (9-3) scored a run in the top of the second inning and Hallsville (4-10) responded with its lone run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. The Ladybirds followed with a run in the third, three more in the fourth, four in the fifth and ended the game on the mercy rule with a six-run outburst in the sixth.

Wilson went 2-for-5 as part of North Callaway's 17-hit rampage. Junior third baseman Harper Thomsen was 3-for-4 with a double and scored twice, while senior right fielder Kallie Jo Lehenbauer finished 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Junior shortstop Kenzie Ausfahl was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and scored four times for the Ladybirds. Junior designated player Cameran Knipp went 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Freshman starter Hayley Kimbley (3-1) posted the win for North Callaway, allowing an earned run on six hits in four innings.

The Lady Hornets go to Montgomery County for an Eastern Missouri Conference game at 5 p.m. today.
