Softball: Fatima 10, New Bloomfield 0

WESTPHALIA, Mo. - The New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats managed only two hits in being manhandled by the Fatima Lady Comets in Tuesday night's Show-Me Conference setback.

The game was scoreless until Fatima broke through for four runs in the bottom of the third inning. The Lady Comets followed with a five-run outburst in the fourth and added a run in the fifth to end the game on the mercy rule.

Senior second baseman Kassi O'Dowd had a single to lead off the game and senior catcher Shelby Ruppel doubled in the fourth to account for New Bloomfield's hits. The loss dropped the Lady Wildcats to 7-3 on the season and 2-1 in the SMC.

Freshman starter Sarah Abbott was tagged for 10 earned runs on eight hits - including two home runs, one a grand slam - in suffering the complete-game loss for New Bloomfield. Abbott walked three and struck out two.

The Lady Wildcats return home for an SMC clash with Eugene at 5 p.m. Thursday.
