Cross Country: Fulton finishes second at Linn, produces four medalists

LINN, Mo. - Behind the performances of senior Mason Gaines and junior Brock Fisher the Fulton Hornets snagged another top-3 team finish Saturday at the Linn Invitational.

Gaines finished third overall and led the Hornets with a time of 17 minutes, 19 seconds. Fisher finished fifth with a 18:04, senior Gabe Luebbert finished at 19 with a 18:56. All three medaled for the Hornets.

Senior Nathan Quick finished 28th with a 19:19, and senior Haydon Windsor rounded out Fulton's top five runners at 52 with a 20:30.

"Outstanding showing by our Fulton kids and huge congratulations to the varsity boys for placing second out of 19 teams," Fulton head coach George Yates said.

The girls placed eighth out of 17 possible teams with freshman Kayanna Gaines being the lone medalist. Her time was good for 18th overall with a 23:26.8, Maitane Sandonis finished at 35 with a 24:30.6, junior Mary Schnoebelen finished at 71 with a 26:24.8, sophomore Caitlin Sievert finished at 90 in 27:32.1, and freshman Kalyn Wolfmeier rounded out the top five with a 92nd finish in 27:37.3.

The Hornets will host the Fulton Invitational at the high school athletic complex at 9 a.m. Saturday.
