Baseball: Harrisburg 10, New Bloomfield 5

HARRISBURG, Mo. - The No. 2 seed Harrisburg Bulldogs broke a 2-all tie with a five-run outburst in the bottom of the fourth inning to end the No. 3 New Bloomfield Wildcats' season in the Class 2, District 7 semifinals Monday night.

Harrisburg (13-6) took a 2-0 lead in the first, but New Bloomfield countered with two runs in the second to pull even. Senior left fielder Tommy Bedsworth put the Wildcats (8-11) on the scoreboard with an RBI triple and senior starter Tyler Martin followed with an RBI single to tie the game.

The Bulldogs went in front to stay in the fourth and tallied three more runs in the fifth to widen their lead to 10-2. New Bloomfield added its three final runs in the seventh on a Harrisburg error and junior catcher Nick Hammann's two-run double.

Hammann went 2-for-3 and senior center fielder Evan Roddy finished 2-for-4 with a run scored as the Wildcats totalled eight hits. Bedsworth was 1-for-2 and scored once, while senior third baseman Johnny Elliott went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Martin (3-5) was pounded for 10 runs - only six earned - on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings to suffer the loss. He struck out five and issued five walks.

New Bloomfield committed four errors.
